These audio case studies draw on our research findings. The scripts were developed from interview transcripts with either an older person or carer participant in our study. The audios are, necessarily, highly selective in the information they present. Some of the words are narrated as spoken by the participant but, more often, the interview content has been paraphrased. All names are fictitious and details that could identify the person have been changed or removed. The audios are narrated by members of our co-research teams.
We have produced a Guide to using the audio case studies for teaching and training with some questions for discussion.

The Care We Want
Our Solihull team took part in the ESRC Festival of Social Science 2019 and created an audio film based on our research into the experiences of older people who pay for their own care.
It tells the story of John and Muriel Jones, an elderly copuple who find they suddenly need to find care at home after Muriel has had a fall. The story, told in a series of ‘talking heads’ by characters representing the people involved shows how difficult it can be for people to find the care they want at a time when they are most vulnerable.
